Tip: Start Potting Up Herbs to Bring Indoors
Begin potting up perennial herbs, such as chives, sage, oregano, and
thyme, to bring indoors for the winter. Lift clumps, divide off small
sections and pot them up in fresh potting soil. Leave the pots outside
for a few weeks so they settle in before bringing indoors.
Tip: Harvest Sunflowers
To collect sunflower seeds after the flowers fade cover the
head with cheesecloth to keep birds away. When you can rub
seeds off with your hand, cut the head, remove the seeds,
dry them in a warm, airy indoor location.
